Life Coaching for Teens & Young Adults

I work with high-achieving teens and young adults who are capable, thoughtful, and driven, but not always consistent. Many are managing pressure, expectations, and important decisions without a clear framework to guide them.

This stage is often just as challenging for parents, who are navigating how to support their child while encouraging independence. My work provides clarity and structure for both.

With over 15 years of experience advising students through high-stakes academic and personal transitions, I bring a level of discernment and strategic clarity that goes well beyond traditional coaching. My work strengthens emotional intelligence and equips students with the problem-solving skills to navigate complexity with clarity and confidence so they can perform at their best.

Who I Work With

I work with families who value depth, discretion, and meaningful, lasting results.
My work is best suited for teens and young adults navigating academic, career, and life transitions, who benefit from structure, accountability, and clear strategic guidance tailored to how they think and operate.

This includes:

  • High-performing students who are underperforming relative to their ability

  • Students who feel overwhelmed, inconsistent, or uncertain despite strong potential

  • Students with neurodivergence who benefit from structured, strategic support

Families I work with are seeking an experienced, discerning leader who creates real, measurable change and helps their child move forward with clarity and direction.

Challenges Teens Often Face

Many students at this stage are intelligent and capable, yet:

  • Struggle to begin or complete work

  • Avoid or shut down under pressure

  • Question their direction or sense of self

  • Experience procrastination or inconsistency

  • Feel behind compared to peers

Focus Areas

Our work focuses on building:

  • Internal structure and consistent follow-through

  • Emotional regulation and resilience

  • Independent thinking and clarity in decision-making

  • Confidence, identity development, and motivation

  • Academic, executive function, and college-readiness skills

  • Communication and boundary-setting

How We Work

Sessions are collaborative, structured, and highly individualized. We begin by understanding how the student operates: where they get stuck, how they make decisions, and which patterns are repeating. From there, we build practical systems that support consistency, progress, and long-term development.

Parents are included thoughtfully, ensuring teens maintain ownership over their growth. This approach creates accountability without unnecessary pressure and structure without rigidity.

The Impact on Teens

Students leave with the ability to:

  • Think clearly and make independent decisions

  • Follow through consistently and execute on goals

  • Maintain emotional steadiness under pressure

  • Develop self-awareness and understand their strengths

  • Build stronger, more balanced relationships

  • Implement objectives and sustain progress over time

These outcomes aren’t accidental—they reflect the structured, individualized guidance students receive, which equips them to navigate challenges with confidence and clarity.

My Approach

My work is structured, direct, and highly individualized. I focus on how students approach challenges, manage time, respond to pressure, and make decisions when the stakes are high.

I do this by helping students:

  • Identify patterns that limit performance

  • Build systems that create consistency

  • Strengthen executive function and internal accountability

  • Develop clarity in moments of uncertainty

The goal is not short-term improvement, but rather lasting capability that equips students to navigate challenges independently and clearly and perform at their highest level over time. For parents, this often means less conflict, more trust, and the relief of seeing their child take genuine ownership of their life.

This work builds discipline, habits, and confidence that carry far beyond school, creating a foundation for success in every area of life.

Benefits of Life Coaching

Life coaching provides personalized support to help students strengthen key life skills—like time management, decision-making, and communicating effectively with themselves and others. Through this work, students often:

  1. Learn to make choices confidently and advocate for themselves

  2. Reduce stress and anxiety

  3. Discover their strengths, interests, and unique talents

  4. Build resilience and grit

  5. Clarify goals and next steps

  6. Develop a goal-oriented mindset for school, work, and life

This approach equips students with practical skills and habits that extend far beyond academics, empowering them to approach challenges with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Student Outcomes

The students I’ve mentored and coached have gone on to shape the world in STEM, computer science, the arts, law, entrepreneurship, and business. Many have succeeded at organizations such as the U.S. Congress, Teach for America, the U.S. State Department, United Nations, Oxford University Press, the Peace Corps, Boston Children’s Hospital, McKinsey, Apple, and leading firms on Wall Street and in Silicon Valley.

More importantly, they leave with the ability to think clearly, act independently, and navigate complexity with confidence.

My approach is direct, structured, and results-oriented, designed to help students build the clarity, confidence, and habits that allow them to perform at their highest level. I work with clients across the U.S. and internationally, both in person and via Zoom, guiding families and students to confront obstacles, take decisive action, and achieve outcomes that matter—academically, personally, and professionally.

Coaching vs. Therapy

Coaching is not a substitute for therapy and serves a distinct purpose. Therapy is intended to address emotional distress, trauma, or mental health concerns, while coaching supports individuals who are generally functioning well yet want to operate at a higher level. Coaching focuses on guidance, strategy, and skill development, and is not intended to replace professional mental health support when it is needed.
